(1) From Kansai International Airport (KIX), Osaka

The most convenient access from major cities around the world is via Kansai International Airport (KIX). KIX has direct links with cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Vladivostok, Cairo, Chicago, Detroit, Vancouver and San Francisco as well as major cities in Asia and Australasia. All of the direct international flights bound for Osaka will land at Kansai International Airport.

Hirakata city can be reached from KIX on the public transportation system by either 'limousine' bus or train:

(a) Limousine bus
Buses bound for Hirakata city (near Hirakata-shi station) leave from the 1st floor (International Arrivals). Tickets machines are available outside the building. (1,800 yen, 80-120 minutes).

(b) Trains
Upon your arrival at KIX, go to the 2nd floor (the arrivals gate is located on the first floor) and take Japan Rail's (JR) "Kansai Airport Rapid Service" to JR Kyobashi station. Walk to KEIHAN Kyobashi station (a separate station approx. 2 minutes walk away). At Keihan Kyobashi station, take an Express train bound for Demachiyanagi and get off at Hirakata-shi station (a 20 minutes ride). (Total travel time approx. 100 minutes).

(2) From Narita International Airport (near Tokyo)
If your flight lands at Narita International Airport near Tokyo, you will need to take a domestic flight to Kansai International Airport (KIX) or Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport) (see (3) below). However, there are few domestic flights from Narita International Airport and you would probably have to travel to Haneda Airport (about 60-90 minutes by limousine bus). Another option via Tokyo would be to catch the Shinkansen (Bullet train) from Tokyo station to Kyoto station (see (4) below) or Shin-Osaka station (see (5a) below). It would take about an hour or so from Narita to Tokyo, and the trip via Shinkansen to Kyoto station or Shin-Osaka station would be about 2-3 hours depending on which train you catch.
